Mt. Everest, being above 8840 meters as the highest Mountain on the earth has been able to garner attention from mountaineers and adventure seekers from all over the world. Since Everest remained as border between Nepal and Tibet, it is also possible to climb this mountain from Tibet (northern) side. Though the pinnacle of Everest is officially lies in Nepal side, Everest expedition from Tibet side is recently becoming popular because it is relatively safe and less costly than southern route. Mt. Everest Expedition is probably the most dreamed trip in the world even though it is not an easy task to accomplish. Northern route to climb Mt. Everest is rated as E4 in terms of difficulty which means it is strenuous expedition with difficult climbing route.
There are so many challenges associated with Everest expedition such as high altitude sickness, harsh weather condition, personal fitness, human physiology and so on. Furthermore, one should have extensive mountaineering knowledge to make a successful Everest summit. Considering all these obstacles, we have designed a 56 days program for Everest climbing from North side. First four nights are allocated in Kathmandu, which is very useful for acclimatization and utilized for city sightseeing.
Our expedition itinerary includes flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa then drive to Everest Base Camp (5100 m) to begin your thrilling journey. North side has Intermediate Camp at 6200m and Advance Base Camp (ABC) at 6500m. The ABC is about 20 kilometers away from Base Camp and is situated on rugged and fragmented ground and frequently receives high speed winds. Camp I is located between Everest and Changtse. After climbing on a snowy slope, you will reach Camp II. Wind might restrict your pace of walking there. Though rocks made topography is there, slipping could be very dangerous. To avoid possible accidents, ropes are in place to give some sorts of safety. After Camp III, climbers generally require oxygen supplement. From camp III to camp IV, the route is a mixture of rocky steps. There are fixed ropes which will help you to move forward on the mountain towards right direction. Camp IV has a small camp where you will spend as little time as possible. On moving forward, you will encounter first obstacle known as First step which is a rock structure of about 30m. Some steps further, there will see Second Step, which is the most challenging part of this expedition and about 40 m in tall. The Third Step is the easiest of all and about 25m in height that allow you to summit. Thirty-five days are assigned from Advance Base Camp to summit of Mt. Everest and return back. You will then drive back to Kathmandu via Kyirung border with unforgettable memories.
